Dutchwoman Thalita De Jong (Human Powered) has crowned the first place at the unprecedented finish line of the Trofeu Binisissalem-Andratx, the third and last of the races that make up the II Garden Hotels-Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca for women. The day ended on the demanding slopes of Momport, with two very tough final kilometres, in which De Jong was the strongest, leading the Italian Silvia Persico (UAE) by 14 seconds and the French Cedrine Kerbaol (EF Education) by 15.
The race started off fast from the start in Binissalem and was conditioned by the strong wind. The peloton broke into three a few kilometres after the start and Mavi García stayed in the second group. Ahead of her was a group of about thirty riders, with EF Education, Human Powered, EF Education, Movistar and UnoXMobility setting the pace.
Twenty kilometres from the finish, Mavi García did the feat and managed to make contact alone with the leading group, regaining her chances of fighting for victory. But on the tough slopes of Momport, the Mallorcan rider could not withstand the attack, first from Kerbaol, and then from De Jong, who finally entered the line alone. from the finish line, with a time of 2h51’15”.
