Swiss Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team) has conquered the Castell de Bellver, where the finish line of the Trofeu Palma was located, the second of the races that make up the II Garden Hotels-Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca Femenino. Reusser beat the Mallorcan rider Mavi García (Spanish National Team) at the finish line, who, as happened last year, was once again on the verge of victory.
A total of 108 riders took the start on this second day of the Women’s Challenge, with 129 kilometres. In the first part of the race, a breakaway formed with 14 riders, who reached a maximum time of 3’25”. The breakaway ended 30 kilometres from the finish, shortly before starting to climb Coll des Grau, where Mavi García made the selection of the race.
At the next mountain, Coll de sa Creu, Reusser attacked, taking the local rider with her. The two of them reached the finish line and there the Swiss rider was stronger, scoring the victory for the Movistar Team, with a time of 3h20’54”.
Tomorrow the third and final race of this Challenge will be held, the Binissalem-Port d’Andratx Trophy, with 107.4 kilometres.
