After more than a decade without a live television signal, the XXXII Cycling Challenge to Mallorca can be followed live in its next edition, to be held from January 25 to 29, 2023. This has been announced by Manuel Hernández, the director of Unisport Consulting , the company organizing the race, to the media in an act that was attended by the Minister of Model Economics, Tourism and Labor of the Government, Iago Negueruela; the Minister of Transition, Tourism and Esports of the Mallorca Council, Andreu Serra and the CEO of Garden Hotels, Gabriel Llobera. In addition, the renewal of the agreement between Garden Hotels Luxcom and the Mallorca Cycling Challenge has also been announced, whereby the hotel chain will continue to be the main sponsor of the race for the next three years.
The live broadcast on television is possible thanks to the agreement with the institutions and their commitment to the Cycling Challenge in Mallorca as a strategic event to promote tourism on the island. In this way, Eurosport and TVE, through the Teledeporte channel, will offer fans from all over the world the live signal of the last hour and a half of each of the five tests, carried out by the Medialuso production.
The promotional and sporting impact of the Cycling Challenge to Mallorca will be high given the wide dissemination of the platforms that will broadcast the outcome of the five Trophies live, which will benefit the tourism promotion promoted by the Balearic institutions, the repercussion of the test itself and the visibility of the sponsors and collaborators of the test, as well as the town halls hosting the races.
Specifically, the broadcast times for the finals of each day would be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the trophies that will be played on January 25, 26, 27 and 28, while the last test would also be broadcast live on Sunday 29 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Garden Hotels, with cycling
With regard to the renewal of the agreement between Garden Hotels and the Cycling Challenge in Mallorca, the hotel chain will continue to be the main private sponsor of the event and its Playa Garden Selection and Alcúdia Garden hotels will house the large Challenge caravan. It is an agreement that involves more than 2,200 stays, between runners, team personnel, organization or national and international media accredited during the test
With this commitment to cycling and the Mallorca Cycling Challenge, Garden Hotels once again becomes one of the best-positioned hotel companies in Mallorca in this segment and with a differential product for the national and international markets.
Garden Hotels is a family business in Mallorca founded in 1986, with more than 30 years of experience in hotel operations. The chain has 12 hotels of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels in 4 national and international destinations (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Huelva and the Dominican Republic), with a wide range of services and a great national and international gastronomic offer.
During the event, held at the Nivia Born Boutique hotel, a Garden Hotels establishment in the center of Palma, Manuel Hernández, director of Unisport Consulting, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the broadcast of the Challenge live on television and very grateful for the support of the Consell de Mallorca and the Government, because without their contribution and the commitment they make to our career, it would be impossible to assume the cost of producing an event of these characteristics. Undoubtedly, the live broadcast will allow us to increase the visibility of the race and reach a greater number of spectators who will be able to follow the race and, with this, exponentially increase the tourist impact of Mallorca”.
“The Hotel Playa Garden Selection will be the one that will host the UCI World Team teams, while the Alcúdia Garden Hotel will host the formations of the Pro Team and Continental Team categories, as well as the organization and displaced media. These two establishments in which the collaboration of Garden Hotels materializes are a guarantee of comfort and services for the teams that participate and thus continue to count every year with the main teams of the international peloton and its main stars”.
The Minister of Economic Model, Tourism and Work of the Balearic Government, Iago Negueruela, has declared: “The test, more than consolidated in the international circuit, is in line with the projected by this Government, marked by balance and sustainability. We are committed to the landscape, culture and sport as examples of quality. One more year, welcome to the peloton and its positive mark on this land”.
The Councilor for Transition, Tourism and Esports of the Consell, Andreu Serra, said: “A new edition of the Mallorca Cycling Challenge has arrived, which this year brings with it an important novelty: television monitoring of the stages. Therefore, there will be an impact and a return of precisely one of the strategic tourist products for the Consell, cycling, since it encourages seasonal adjustment and diversification. In short, the image that we will be able to give internationally through the audiovisual media of practically the entire world is very good news. Especially for a Challenge that is already consolidated on the island”.
The CEO of the Garden Hotels Group, Gabriel Llobera, stated: “Our sponsorship is more than just sponsorship, since we seek to transmit the values of the Garden Group through it. Garden Hotels’ sustainability and circular economy strategy becomes visible in the Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa and Alcudia Garden Aparthotel establishments that house the runners, in aspects such as the KM0 product, the absence of single-use plastics or the effective management of the waste generated during the stay of the race”.
