The Consolat de Mar, headquarters of the Presidency of the Government of the Balearic Islands, has hosted the official presentation of the XXXII edition of the Garden Hotels Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca, with the presence of the main regional, island and municipal authorities, as well as sponsors , organization and people from the sport of pedaling, who thus support the benchmark test of the island calendar, the first major international event on Spanish soil. This edition will be held between Wednesday 25 and Sunday 29, with the participation of twenty-two teams, eight of them from the highest category (UCI World Team), and the presence of some of the most outstanding riders on the international cycling scene such as French double world champion Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-Quick Step), Guillaume Martin, the Herrada brothers (Cofidis), Juan Sebastián Molano, Tim Wellens (UAE), Emmanuel Buchmann (Bora-Hansgrohe), Biniam Girmay (Intermarché Circus Wanty).
One of the main novelties for this edition is that live television returns. From Wednesday to Saturday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday, from 12:45 to 2:15 p.m., through Teledeporte and Eurosport, adding the GCN platform and the Spanish International Television Channel, more than seven hours that will Mallorca in the showcase of millions of viewers from all over the planet, with a wide technical and human deployment.
Five trophies
The activity will start on Wednesday the 25th, with the Calvià Trophy (150.1 kilometres), starting and finishing in Palmanova; Thursday the 26th will be the turn of the Ses Salines-Alcúdia Trophy (158.6 kilometres). On Friday the 27th comes the first day in the mountains, with the already traditional Andratx-Mirador d’es Colomer Trophy (160.9 kilometres), with a summit finish, after ascent to Puig Major. The Serra de Tramuntana Trophy (155.5 kilometres) arrives on Saturday the 28th, leaving the ascents to Coll de Femenies, Coll de Sóller and Puig Major as judges. The culmination of this week will be the Palma Trophy, on Sunday 29, with a 141.6-kilometre route starting and finishing in front of the Cathedral.
