The Portuguese cyclist Rui Costa (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty) has won the Trofeu Calvià, the first of the races of the XXXII 32nd Garden Hotels-Luxcom Cycling Challenge in Mallorca, which has been held with start and finish in Palmanova , over a 150.1 km route, under intermittent rain and a leg-breaking route. Rui Costa prevailed ahead of Belgian Louis Vervaeke (Soudal-Quick Step) and Irish Ben Healy (EF-EasyPost), who completed the podium.

The winner of this day came out of the trio of cyclists who reached the finish line before the push of a chasing group that stayed a few meters from being able to compete for the Trophy, among which was the two-time world champion Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-Quick Step) .
The Challenge Mallorca will continue tomorrow with the dispute of the Trofeu Ses Salines-Alcúdia, of 158.6 kilometres, starting at Ses Salines and arriving at Port d’Alcúdia.
